Michael Cantle has many years of experience as a quantity surveyor in the Construction Industry employed as commercial manager (also in the capacity of senior quantity surveyor, estimator, procurement, contract administrator/manager and project manager) with a successful record of projects both in companies, clients and contractors. Providing a full range of contract and consultancy services based on practical and commercial experience gained primarily through leading national contractors.

As a Specialist Cost Analyst and Quantity Surveyor, he works with a diverse range of companies, clients and contractors to assist in identifying and managing the key issues facing them during the feasibility, pre-construction period, and construction period, on projects requiring strategic reviews and in final accounts.

Sector Experience:

Building - using design and build and traditional contracts in government projects including hospitals and crown courts, education and in the private sector to include housing, leisure, retail,    offices and hotels for blue chip clients.
Civil Engineering – Bridges, earthworks, heavy engineering, infrastructure, marine works, roads and motorways.
Process Engineering - Power generation, waste, water, pharmaceutical, petrochemical and utilities.
Overland and Underground Rail - P-way, over head lines, third rail, signaling and  telecommunication and radio communications; new build and station modernisations.
Experience extends to extending to estimating, procurement, pre and post-contract duties including management of major claims on projects with values up to £200 million.
Good working knowledge of the main forms of contract including NEC2 and 3 and framework agreements, including all aspects of compiling and agreeing tender and contract documents. Ability to provide procurement advice, review and manage the commercial aspects of contracts and bids to ensure the Terms and Conditions are favorable and the accrual of unbilled debts are minimised.

International appointment on the ionic Stonecutters Bridge Project in Hong Kong. Supporting the Maeda, Hitachi, Yokogowa, Hsin Chong J.V. (Joint Venture) in reviewing Statements of claims and preparing quantum reports and valuations.

I have been working as a consultant for Capita (Lenders Technical Advisor) on their Technical Report for the benefit of Lenders' to the Project Co, in carrying out a complex benchmaking exercise for a UK PPP motorway project.

On the 29 January 2014 Transport Scotland, Transport Minister Keith Brown announced the intention to award a contract to construct the new M8 and make new Improvements to the M73 and M74, which will create hundreds of jobs and will see advanced works start immediately following the sign off of the early works agreement.

I am pursuing new opportunities and am available at short notice and flexible and will accept commissions on a global basis.
